I have been a secondary owner of my home for 10 years and have lived in the home since 2006. The other owner died and the property appraiser is trying to charge me $4000 for 2016-2018 homestead penalties. Please help

This exact same thing happened to my brother in Texas. Basically, the person who had declared the property a homestead died. Because of that the declaration was no longer valid, and he was penalized. Your best bet would be to hire an estate lawyer....Read More
