This depends on the painkiller. Ibuprofen's most frequent side effects tend to be gastrointestinal issues, such as mild heartburn, constipation and an upset stomach. It's also worth noting that it can raise blood pressure in certain cases as well. Nausea is probably the most common acetaminophen side effect but it is generally very well tolerated.
