This company hired my son, who is a 2012 graduate of Colorado School of Trades, on Monday 11-21-16. He filled out all employment papers and gave them a copy of his diploma. He gave his notice at his current job as gunsmith and salesman at Premium Pawn in Natchitoches (with Hebert's knowledge of him giving notice) and rented an apartment in Gonzales. Eight days later, Hebert's called him and said they decided they needed someone with more experience. This is extremely poor business!! We recommend that you never do business here.
I recently had a scary experience happen to me at Albertson's where I was being stalked and followed through the store by this creepy looking guy. I told the store manager who walked me to my car and advised me not to drive directly home in case I was followed. Sure enough this guy followed me, so I pulled into the Kleinpeter sub-station and the guy apparently got scared and left. Anyways, I decided it was time to get something for protection. I've never been a gun person, frankly I've always been a little afraid of them. A friend of mine told me about Heberts so I went by to check them out. They were really helpful. They taught me a lot of stuff I didn't know and spent a lot of time answering my questions and showing me different guns. Mr. C.J. was very patient and helped me pick out the perfect pistol for me-a Smith and Wesson 642. Watch out now creepy guy!
Very poor experience trying to return an $8.95 scope cover. Ask for CJ the owner and was sent a different employee. Bad choice CJ. Had friend tell me they would never do business with you again and looks like I'm joining them. Cabelas would be glad to help me. Store policies bite.

I went in to buy a gun, found the one I wanted but the background check was delayed. The delay wasn't a problem so I paid in full and was going to wait for the back check to be approved. Then I went to Cabelas and found the same gun for $150 less! When I went back to Hebert Guns the same day to get a refund they wanted to charge me a 25% charge for ""lay away"" this was over $100 they wanted to keep just because. I paid in full so there should not be ""lay away"" on a gun I have already bought but never even held.
This is a BS move and I can see why the chains are beating them. The only why a local store can survive the chains to to be good to their customers and Hebert Guns does not do that.
They have lost my business for good.

I have bought several guns and a couple scopes from there with great service, from the owner to all the sales staff, and gunsmith. Excellent service and staff. Great deals with tons of knowledge and experience. 1st CLASS. Looking to buy a new gun safe next. Thanks, Malcolm Olds, Jr./ Denham springs, La.

Glad to see some good responses for my hometown Gun Seller, but my experience wasn't positive either. I also had the feeling that the owner and mangement was implying I was dishonest for asking for warranty service on a premium hand gun I bought from Hebert Guns of Prairieville. The custom shop high class gun I bought was jamming too much. Hebert recommended many solutions, all of which I paid for and none of which worked. Too bad this business doesn't know how to treat it's customers. Try any of the other gun shops in the area. You'll get a better value for your dollar and you'll probably be treated in a more professional manner.

CJ and Nancy are two hard working people who are trying to have a family type business in this word of Wal- Marts. They are very nice and will go out of there way to help you. If you can't get along with them then you are the type of person that will make the Pope mad. I have done business with them for several years and would drive 100 miles to do so. Thank You David Shultz of Satsuma

i'm sorry to see the last guy who posted running this great shops name through the mud. who buys a paint kit and waits over a month to return it anway? that wouldn't even fly at wal-mart! i see he mentioned to go to cabelas instead.... well i'll stick with CJ and friends here in prairieville myself. hands down the best prices and most knowledgeable staff in the area and will order you anything you don't see on the shelf. full service repair shop is also a major plus. i've bought at least 5 guns from Hebert's in the past few months and i'll be back for more. great people and great prices = me being a happy return customer.

I recommend you look elsewhere, unless you like being presumed dishonest. I needed to return an item, and when I asked what is the reason behind the return policy, the reply from the apparent matriarch of the business was, ""You could have used the product, before you return it."" Although my receipt showed my purchase just beyond the 30 days stated in their company policy, I'm amazed at getting this attitude on a $25 item. I had not used the paint in question, because I got rid of the piece which I bought it for. This woman seemed determined to shoot herself in the foot, in a business with items which are much more expensive.
I know dishonest customers exist, but I resent being presumed dishonest.
