My family and i have eaten at Superior Grill for years and have never had a problem at this resturant. The prices, the serve, and the atmosphere is second to none in Baton Rouge. I live week to week on a budget with a family of four and Superior Grill's are very helpful in this regards. Thank you Superior Grill and we look forward to coming back.
It has been a while since I have been to Superior grill but I have no complaints. I would rate it second to Ninfas. But if it
is true about what the owner did to the manager because he thought he was being racist then that is sad. But I dont
blame the customer I blame the owner for being weak.
I went to Superior Grill despite hearing negative rumors of racism and poor service. Our waiter took our drink order and then disappeared for about 20 minutes.
The food was great, margaritas were pretty good, we got the 2/1 deal.
We paid and left and the next day I checked my bank account and my card had been charged almost triple what I had ordered. Called and spoke to the manager who hassled me about the receipt and where I was sitting etc. He said they would credit my account but that has yet to happen.

I have been here twice now, the first time was okay, kinda busy. The food was average, the wait staff was slow. My sister loves the place and she wanted to go saturday before the LSU game (which they won). We arrived just after the lunch rush so we figured we would be in and out pretty quick, wrong. They start out by putting 8 people at a 4' round table. This would be okay if we were only a party of 5, but not 8 especially at a Mexican restaurant. Then we each have water glasses, which is fine but after he brought out our regular glasses and refills we had over 20 glasses on the table with 2 baskets of chips and no room what so ever for our meal. So instead of taking some of the excess off he brings our lunch out. we have so little room now that we have to hold our plates. Still not getting the hint I got up and started putting glasses which were not being used onto his service tray as well as the baskets of chips. He then turned to us and said can i get you anything else. He was clueless!
Now for the meal, me and my brother both had the chicken fajitas because you can't really go wrong with that. Wrong again. They were not sizzleling at all infact the black plate they come on was luke warm if best. The vegetables were all the same color, you couldn't tell the difference between the onions and the bell peppers. The chicken had an unusual amount of fat on it, I had never had fajitas with fat on them, it was disgusting. By far the worst fajitas i have ever had, and to top it all off there was only like 4 little strips of chicken on a broken plate. There are so many other Mexican restaurants to try in Baton Rouge than to ever go back to this place. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars is because my sister loves the place. If anyone else has had a bad experience or is just looking for another place close to this area try Cozumel by the mall of cortana. The food is much better and the service is genuine.

Forgive me, but being a black woman myself, I found the comment posted by JENA6 laughible. Yes, racism does exist. However, it is primarily due to people who like to USE it to benefit themselves. I have been a resident of Baton Rouge since Katrina, having lived in what is considered the not-so-good part of town. As a dedicated visitor to Superior Grill, I can honestly say I have NEVER had a problem being served because of the color of my skin. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is up-beat and friendly. If someone has a chip on their shoulder and they expect the world to fix it, get over yourself. The world owes you nothing. Treating others with respect will send you the same reward in return. That manager was a wonderful man and will be missed dearly. Shame on you for making racism a problem wherever you go. You are obviously not from around here and I hope you never return. Keep your trouble making to yourself JENA6.

You know, Superior Grill has been the best place to go for Mexican in Baton Rouge for a long time. Great food, great service--and a large part due to their manager who was recently let go b/c a group from Jena 6 made a false accusation. They were talking about this on the morning show, I think it's called Walton and Johnson. I am a minority and so is this manager, although not black. I have been dining at Superior Grill for years and have brought my white and black friends and I can honestly say that we have been treated like top customers every time we go! This manager especially is an honest hard-working man who has been there 17 years! To accuse him of being against blacks is ridiculous! They don't serve food on the patio--to anyone!! Just b/c you wanted to be served on the patio when the policy is not to serve food on the patio doesn't give you the right to call someone as being against blacks and have them lose their job of 17 years! I mean, how can you sleep at night? I'm not going back to Superior Grill b/c the owner didn't have the decency to stand up for what was right and back up his loyal employee.

It seems that there is a difference in the customer service if you are Black so stay away. Racism still exist everywhere, so be aware if you eat at Superior Grill Restaurant in Baton Rouge you never know what goes on with your food there. If the manager can be rude and tell the waiters not to serve the Black customer at their seats but serve the White customers what is he telling them to do to your food? ........

If I could give this place zero stars I would! I recently visited this restaurant with my sister. To make a long story short, the server was very rude and did not get my order right. I politely informed him that my order was wrong and he quickly snatched the plate. However, instead of bringing me a new dish he took the one he had served me to the kitchen and LITERALLY scraped off the dressings I had asked to be left off. He served me the same plate that then looked like someone had already been eating from it! Needless to say, I asked to speak to the manager who acted as if nothing was wrong with what the server had done. There was NO apology and he even told the server, ""it's okay"". It was not okay nor acceptable. I refused the dish and didn't order anything else from the menu. I vowed then that I would NEVER patronize this restaurant again.

I've never been disappointed with the food or the service here. The fajitas really are the best this side of the border. Their appetizer sampler is great - when you can't decide on which appetizer to get, just try this! Also, the margaritas are tasty, although expensive.

Although I miss the Shreveport location, this one in Baton Rouge is quite good too. Awesome margaritas, fajitas, and quesadillas!! My only complaint: they don't have the same queso dip as the Shreveport location (has authentic white Chihuahua cheese). If I had to choose my last meal on Earth it would be: 1) a sangria margarita, 2) the special white queso dip, 3) the grande quesadillas de pollo (chicken), and 4) the flan for dessert (which I normally order to go b/c the meal is so large!). Oh & did I mention the value is great too?

My usual test of a good Mexican restaurant is its 1)Margaritas, 2)salsa, and 3)fajitas. Superior is SUPERIOR on all 3! Consistently the best-tasting Margaritas I've ever had, made with fresh lime juice and tequila you can actually taste! You can't say that for most of the other restaurants around, with their overly-sweetened, practically non-alcoholic Margaritas. The salsa is fantastic, too, with a nice cilantro-taste to it that again, most Mexican restaurants cannot compare to. And the fajitas come out sizzling, like they're supposed to (ahem!)! Great food, great atmosphere (usually a young, 20-30 something crowd in the bar area), and great service by Spanish-speaking staff. This is what a Mexican restaurant should be!

If you like real Mexicn food, prepared by real Mexicans and served by real Mexicans, then Superior Grill is the place for you! Deliscioso. I love authentic Mexican food, and I never miss an opportunity to eat at Superior Grill when I'm in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport and Birmingham. Their BIG COMBINATION PLATTERS are the BEST! Enjoy, Amigos.
